A new take on Chili Rellenos!

Hello friends!

So I have been MIA for awhile because I have been here...
Visiting family in South Texas :)

So, I have followed the lovely Kathe with an E blog
for quite some time and always love what she comes up with.
When I saw her post for Chili Rellenos I had to try it out!

She has a fun recipe that is quite different from the Rellenos I have had before.
A Chili Relleno is traditionally a stuffed and fried Poblano pepper.
I have tried and FAILED to make these before.
So Kathe to the rescue!

First you need to roast your poblano pepper.
Wash and dry your peppers and set them directly on the grate of your stove.
Turn every few minutes or so until the skin looks horrible :)
You want it to look black and blistered.

Then put them into a bag and let them steam themselves for about 20 minutes.

The skin peels right off!

Here is where Kathe's Rellenos take an interesting turn...
Yup, she uses egg roll wrappers!
I had spring roll and regular egg roll wrappers left over.

Slice and seed your poblano peppers
and put a few pieces in each wrapper and top with cheese.
Roll up like any other egg roll and fry!

Yumm!!!
Next time I am going to add in some chicken and salsa!

  7. That looks so good! It got my tummy grumbling way too early this morning, lol. I'll have to remember not to come here until after breakfast. I've never had that kind of pepper before. Is it spicy? I'm curious about it.

  9. Just found your blog! Cute! I'm visiting from PorterPlaceCottage. I don't get to blog as often as I'd like anymore. My family is from Arkansas and when I saw the name I had to visit!

I make my rellenos with hamburger (cheap for lots of people) or spicy chicken. Both are yummy!
