Hello friends!
Have you ever had Strawberry Pretzel Salad?
This kind...

Not that kind...
This kind...
Not that kind...

It is SO good! The perfect summer treat.
My aunt would always bring this for family get-togethers
and i was honored to finally make it myself.
You will need:
Pretzels= 2 cups crushed
Butter= 3/4 cup
Sugar= 3 tbs
Cream Cheese= 8 oz box
Sugar= 3/4 cup
Cool Whip= 8 oz container
Strawberry Jello= 6 oz package
Water= 2 cups boiling
Strawberries= 20 oz sliced
Pineapple= 8 oz crushed
** Don't mind the random box of Jiffy. Left on the counter from a different (soon to come) project and for some reason I added it to the picture. Doh!**
To make the crust:
Crush enough pretzels to make 2 cups. Leave them kinda chunky.
You want to taste pretzel pieces. Make sure to toss the fine powder!
Yes, I am using a coaster :)
Melt 3/4 cup of butter and mix in 3 tbs sugar and the crushed pretzels.
Press mixture into a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Bake the crust in a 400 degree oven for 8 minutes. Put in the fridge to cool.
To make the creamy layer:
Use a mixer to beat the cream cheese with 3/4 cup sugar. Then fold in the Cool Whip.
Spread this over the cooled pretzel crust.
Put in freezer until the next layer is ready. This just helps firm up the mixture.
To make the strawberry layer:
Boil 2 cups of water and stir in Strawberry Jello.
Let that mixture cool and add in the strawberries and pineapple.
Pour that mixture into the dish.
Ooooh...
I let it sit overnight but it is ready to eat when the jello is set.
And voila!
YUM!
Yum is right! This looks sooo good. Salty and sweet! Crunchy and smooth! I'm saving this so I can surprise Mr. B! Share this at my party on Tuesday?

My mama use to make this, now I do and so does my daughter. Only two differences do I see and they are: I crush the pretzels more to make the crust easier to cut and one doesn't know it's pretzels until you tell them. The other is.....no crushed pineapple. Although, I've used just crushed pineapple with lime jello. But that's another whole different dessert. Strawberry Pretzel Salad should only be strawberry. So...this recipe has been in our family for over 40 years. I choose to keep it the same>
