Hello friends!
Don't you just HATE when people (cough*husbands*cough)
forget to take things out of their pockets before they put things in the wash?!!
My hubby is in the medical field
so he comes home with all sorts of random things in his pockets.
I usually wash them, pick them out of the dryer vent,
and then take them to him to ask what the heck is this thing!
I stumbled upon Burton Avenue on Etsy and found this awesome graphic.
I had seen something similar floating around blog land using a board and a mason jar.
I liked the idea but wanted something like a canister that I can set on top of the dryer.
I was so happy to run across these at Dollar General for only THREE dollars!
Angie over at Burton Avenue was so sweet to work with and
customized the decal for me.
When it arrived, it even had an instruction sheet on how to properly adhere the decal.
First, peel the decal and clear cover sheet from the white backing.
The canister is curved so I cut the decal in half to make it easier to peel off.
Press the decal where you would like it and slowly peel off the protective clear sheet.
When needed, I used my drivers license to hold down the black lettering
as I peeled away the clear sheet.
as I peeled away the clear sheet.
Progress!
And Voila! I absolutely love how it turned out!
Hope this will serve as a sweet reminder to check those pockets!!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I definitely need this reminder for my laundry room. Last week, I accidently washed my son's cell phone that was left in his pockets. Oops!

I have made so much extra change by doing the laundry! Loving those coins coming out of everyone's pockets. Great turtoial! Thanks for linking up to Freedom Fridays and so hoping to see you next Friday!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I have a rule that what I find in a pocket I keep... That is how I get paid for doing the laundry.

Thank you for sharing.
This is a GREAT idea for us! I can't count the number of times I've run Wes's laundry and found paper/money/pens/electronics afterwards that got washed, too! I'm going to make one of these from an old formula can and put it next to his side of the bed. :p
ReplyDeleteThis also reminds me...for my birthday, Wes made me a customized coffee mug from a jar kind of like that that he got...the inside has Mason's hand-prints and finger painting. I'll have to share it, its adorable!
ReplyDeleteHey! Serena here from Thrift Diving! LOVE this idea! It's so cute. Sounds like you could use one of those Cricut or Silhoutte machines, so you can do more projects like this. I would love one, but the $300--I'm sure I could find some other things that take priority over that. Maybe a nice bday or holiday gift....?? *hint hint to hubbies everywhere*

Very cute idea! I think the worst thing to be left in the pockets is kleenex. I hate cleaning up that mess from the dryer!
ReplyDeleteNow where was this idea back when my sons were teens?? Mr. B is pretty meticulous so I no longer have laundry worries. Thanks for linking this up at http://www.kathewithane.com/
ReplyDeleteWhat agreat idea, I love how it turned out. by the way, we are featuring this today. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletehave a fab weekend!

Great idea, but I kinda like what I find in the pockets of our laundry (except lipstick and crayons after the fact!). No one seems to check them around here! Thanks for linking up to last week's Friday Block Party. This weeks party link is live now. Hope you will join us again and link up!
